Combining classroom-based screenings with virtual visits to the Art Institute of Chicago museum, students will investigate films about art and artists and contextualize the films within historical contexts. Students will discuss works of art, the lives of the artists, and their representation in film as they analyze the formal elements of film making and cinematic editing techniques. Screenings include films such as, Loving Vincent (2017), Shirley: Visions of Reality (2014) and Kusama - Infinity (2018).
