A counterpart to the wildly popular Neon Techniques course, Neon Seminar digs into the history, theory, materiality, and professional practices of neon artists to provide the essential framework for designing and developing conceptually-driven works of neon art. In this course, we will synthesize the elements of neon production with a survey of optics and light art to create illuminated renderings and proposals to gain immersive insight into the dynamics of working with light as a tactile medium. This comprehensive professional practices course seeks both those experienced in neon art production as well as those new to the luminous tube.
