This course is for students who are interested in learning how to make prints with linoleum blocks, but do not have access to a printmaking studio. This approach to block printing allows students to broaden their practice and remove their dependency on a studio space. This kind of adaptability will help students to be flexible in the spaces they create work. Students will learn how to hand cut and print with linoleum blocks, as well as how to carve blocks with a laser cutter. Class discussions will focus on how the linocut process reinterprets students' original images and whether it changes the idea behind the image. The process will allow students to experiment with their existing drawings, photographs, or designs.
