Children and Art-online

The millennial generation has been lauded and criticized for clinging to childhood longer than previous generations. More people seem to view adulthood as a temporary role, put on at will, rather than a permanent state. Think about how the word "adult" is now a verb (as in "I can't adult today?"). Now more than ever, artists' work is informed by experiences, issues, and forms common to childhood and many pop culture phenomena rely on children's tropes to be successful. Through reading, writing, and making, this course will critically and creatively examine the tension between adulthood and childhood. Note: Adult Continuing Education online courses are project-based with no set meetings times and 24-7 access to course materials. Weekly activities will include readings, video demonstrations and tutorials, online discussions, assignments, and critiques.
