Comics and Graphic Novels—Online (Ages 10-13)

Take your imagination to the next level by creating your own comics and graphic novels. Learn how to tell engaging stories and investigate character development, plot structure, scripting, and storyboarding. Explore penciling, inking, coloring, space, and perspective through the use of a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional media, which may include colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, and handmade zines. Virtual visits to the Art Institute of Chicago and other online resources complement this studio course. Open to beginning students and those who want to continue developing their skills, previous drawing experience is helpful but not required. Projects will vary from session to session.

"Great teacher –– kind, supportive, explains concepts well, good control of class. Great concepts taught –– especially 'movement/figure drawing', good introduction to different styles of art."
