This class is for students who wants to learn how to use 3D modeling software specifically for a career in Interior Design. Learn how Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and SketchUp can help you bring your ideas into the digital space for potential clients and colleagues to view. AUTODESK AUTOCAD is the go-to software for drawing floor plans which can be exported to both SketchUp and Revit. This class will explore how to use AutoCAD to prepare your drawings with annotations, blocks, hatchings, and multileaders. This class will also introduce AutoCAD's 3D modeling tools for creating interior spaces and importing 3D furniture to quickly visualize design ideas. AUTODESK REVIT is a powerful tool for its Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities, which include functions specifically for interior design professionals. Topics that will be explored include: assigning finishes to rooms, and creating new materials and custom wall types; using Revit families; designing pieces such as tables, sofas, and countertops; and view and finalize design options. SKETCHUP is a popular software among interior designers and is featured in multiple tv shows including Fixer Upper. We will explore how to create a workflow for your interior design projects which will include space planning, furniture modeling, and applying materials for viewing and rendering. This class will also include how to draw 2D floor plans; using 3D warehouse; customizing furniture and fixtures; and setting up views and rendering. This course is taught in a Windows OS lab; Mac OS versions of the Autodesk AutoCAD and SketchUp have a slightly different interface. Autodesk Revit is not available for Mac OS. Prerequisite(s): Digital Drawing: Objects and Space or equivalent experience.
