Frame Loom Weaving

Examine the many possibilities of creating woven forms using a simple frame loom. Students begin by experimenting with the basic techniques of tapestry and plain weave as they explore ways of creating surface, image, texture, and various color effects within a woven form. Contemporary weaving projects, along with historical references, will be presented through discussions, visual presentations, demonstrations, and readings. This course is open to all levels.

"Katie did a great job! She was very friendly and approachable even from the online environment and it was very obvious she finds a lot of joy in weaving and teaching us how to weave. I have so much respect for faculty members having to reformulate their classes for this online format but Katie made the transition seem like it was no problem for her."

– Student from Frame Loom Weaving Online with Katie Vota, Fall 2020

"Katie is very engaging as an instructor. Her commitment and love for weaving is evident and she brought this to every class. I knew very little about weaving, and this was a wonderful introduction. It also encourages me to take additional classes."
