The Graphic Design Studio series is designed for intermediate and advanced students with a desire to explore concept development and visual communication skills tied to a specific area of interest or theme. Now considered 'high culture' with a loyal fan and collector base, music industry merchandising, packaging, and promotion is increasingly important as traditional record sales decline. The history of music design will serve as a road map for students as they complete projects that may include a gig poster, t-shirt, and cover art. The work of 4AD, Factory Records, Hipgnosis, Vivienne Westwood, Rick Griffen, and Frank Kozik, among others, will be examined. Prerequisite(s): Digital Design: Adobe Illustrator, Digital Design: Adobe Photoshop, or equivalent experience.
