Interpreting Masterworks

Every painter learns his or her craft from the art of previous ages. In this course, students will interpret the concepts and techniques of artists and artwork on exhibition in the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC). Virtual visits to the museum (coupled with independant in-person visits, depending on student comfort), along with demonstrations, individual guidance, and group critics will help guide personal directions and interpretations in each student's work. Prerequisite(s): Introduction to Oil Painting or equivalent experience.

Registration for this course is closed.
