Students in this unique course explore a range of creative strategies used by contemporary artists in order to develop ideas and create strong, portfolio-quality work. Explore a number of new media, materials, and methods to expand skills in areas of your interest such as drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, video, sound, and performance. Under faculty guidance and peer support, you will develop individual projects unique to your viewpoint as an artist, learn to articulate your ideas verbally and in writing, and develop strategies to produce work that fully represents you as an artist.
The course will include online demonstrations geared to your passions, visiting artist presentations, online museum resources, as well as time for self-directed work and comprehensive faculty advising. You'll engage in discussions and critiques with a vibrant online community of other students from throughout the country and around the world, create portfolio-quality work, and receive comprehensive guidance on developing competitive applications for college admissions to art and design programs.
Previous art experience and ability to work independent of specific assignments required.
