Sculpture Camp: Ages 10-13

Take your artwork off the wall and into three dimensions! This camp is for students interested in creating three-dimensional artworks using both traditional and contemporary processes, from the hand built to using recycled materials and beyond. Sculptural methods are introduced through techniques such as sketching, clay sculpting, carving, mold making, soft sculpture, and material manipulation. Works are produced using individual processes and group collaborations while students explore the physical world through form, texture, scale, light, the human body and its senses, and more. Students are also encouraged to incorporate their own collection of unconventional or recycled materials into their projects. Supplementing the studio experience, field trips to the Art Institute of Chicago and surrounding landmarks offer students the opportunity to observe and discuss traditional and contemporary sculptures and 3D objects firsthand.
