This class will guide students on a deep dive into the possibilities of monoprint and monotype — processes that lend themselves to immediacy and experimentation, but can also produce finessed and complex imagery. The class will introduce additive and reductive monotype processes as well as elements of collagraph and chine colle, and will go on to cover multi-layer registration, allowing for the planning and production of more complex compositions. Students will have the opportunity to draw upon both the collections of the Art Institute and the immediate environment of downtown Chicago in their work, and can expect to produce a number of unique prints and variable editions during this weekend intensive.
Note: This online weekend workshop will combine live sessions daily with independent work time. Links to Zoom video conferencing sessions and additional resources will be sent to students via email. This workshop is offered at a reduced tuition rate-$193.05, $173.91 for AIC members, and $144.87 for SAIC alumni.
