Session 1, Visual Communication Design

This course covers the elements and principles of graphic design and provides students with the technical and conceptual tools to develop effective design strategies. Students expand their understanding of what surrounds them and learn how to look at and evaluate products, graphics, architecture, advertisements, and more. Class discussions challenge students to consider the world of design through a contemporary art lens, drawing upon the work of Saul Bass, Paul Rand, Paula Scher, and others. In addition to using traditional materials like sketchbooks, students use Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, and output work using high quality digital printers. Students can expect to create portfolio-quality works that explore symbols, logos, typography, layout, image and text integration, and sequential design.

Full Tuition Cost: $3,696
This cost does not reflect any potential Merit Scholarship or need-based financial aid the student may be awarded. Housing is an additional cost of $1,050; the meal plan is an additional cost of $210.

Option 1: Pay in full now.

You will be prompted to answer follow-up questions on the next few screens and pay the full cost of tuition, and housing (if requested), at checkout. The full cost of the program tuition includes a $100 non-refundable tuition deposit.

Option 2: Apply for aid/scholarships and pay a $100 non-refundable tuition deposit.
Select this option if you would like to apply for a merit scholarship and/or need-based financial aid. You will be prompted to answer follow-up questions on the next few screens and pay the $100 non-refundable tuition deposit at checkout. Once you have been notified of your potential award amounts, you will be required to pay your remaining balance online by our payment deadline.
