This course will introduce students to acrylic painting through the exploration of traditional and contemporary approaches to the medium. Through demonstrations, individual dialogue, class discussions, and critiques, students will learn how to work with the acrylic paints. Artists including Mark Bradford, Helen Frankenthaler, and Mark Rothko will provide inspiration as participants complete a series of paintings on paper, canvas, and wood. Note: This one-week intensive meets Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with opportunities to work evenings in supervised studios.
The tuition for one-week intensives is $685. Optional housing is available in our residence halls for an additional cost of $455 per week. To reserve housing, please email cs@saic.edu.
